Once Hollywood Farm, Now Chateau Ste. Michelle
Chateau Ste. Michelle is the oldest and largest winery in Washington state. Featuring spacious grounds and a sweeping view of Mount Rainier, Ste. Michelle is the focus of Washington wine tourism. Launched in 1974 when US Tobacco acquired a Seattle company whose roots date to 1934, the French-style château opened in 1976 on the 1912 site of the former Hollywood Farm. Dozens of specimen trees planted by Fred and Nellie Stimson more than 100 years ago now provide a lush setting for visitors.
