About the Artwork

Puddles, Watercolor, Pen and Ink

I've been interested in storytelling since I was a young child when my father would tell stories before bed. It has been a way of life for me to imagine my own life as one big story. So it's no wonder that my days begin by looking, exploring and discovering stories throughout each day. Rhino&Rose is a story about a co-worker; he's the custodian at a school I worked at. As a community building exercise the school counselor wanted the staff to acknowledge someone we worked with in a personal way. This was my gift to him. He is a gentle giant and a wonderful gardener. In his spare time he makes bookmarks for the school library. The story of Puddles is the hero's journey; the image of her sitting in front of the torn fence, is one of many doors she must travel to learn a very difficult lesson. Gary is a story about a young kitten learning about the gift of giving. I love books, especially children's books. I'm a librarian at a Middle School and the two images of Gary with books are my favorite paintings in this short story.
