In 1993, 9th grader Jeremy Bennett's sculpture design was selected to become the fully-realized three-dimensional piece you see before you. Over a period of seven months, Jeremy worked with artist Duane Arneson and students at Lake Washington Vocational Technical Institute (now known as Lake Washington Technical College) at different facilities in the area to create the 10-foot tall stainless steel spiral. This collaborative sculpture effort was created to give gifted students an opportunity to be inviolved in the design and fabrication of full-scale sculptures, and provided a chance for students, teachers, and members of the art community to communicate and collaborate in a way not previously possible.
