The interchangebetween male and female in all its complexity has always interested me as an artist. As an incurable romantic, I seek to capture the warmth and tender closeness, the caring feelings as well as the joy and often the whimsical side of these very personal human emotions. This is why I use the human body as a 'point of departure,' simplifying the figure to a lyrical composition. A sculpture should be a visual communicator, pleading, and even begging the viewer to participate, to understand, and to try to appreciate the very personal relationships and emotions I install in my figures.
Originally selected for the 2000 Bellevue Sculpture Exhibition, the artwork was purchased following the exhibition by the Public Art Program.
