Kick in the Elementary by Victoria Heuston

I enjoy taking typical functions of traditional materials or methods, and pushing the limits of these strict purposes to unfamiliar levels. My inspiration was Marcel Duchamp, specifically his Bride Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors.

The Artist

Victoria Heuston was born in Melbourne, Florida and is a candidate to receive her BFA in sculpture from the School of Art and Art History, College of the Arts, University of Florida in May 2016. She decided to pursue sculpture after becoming a National YoungArtsFinalist in 2012. There she exhibited at the Miami Art Museum and ARTSEEN in Wynwood. Her current investigations deal with found objects and the transformation of these familiar objects into something faintly recognizable. The tug and pull between function and impracticality in the materials chosen plays with the surrounding space.
