More about Rachel
Rachel is the 550 lb bronze mascot of the Pike Place Market Foundation. By helping our low-income neighbors who work, learn, and live in and around the Market, the Market Foundation helps the Market you love remain a thriving, caring community. Established in 1982, The Market Foundation is a non-profit organization which supports housing and services for our low-income neighbors by fundraising, advocacy, and community building. Over the past 30 years, The Market Foundation has contributed to a neighborhood model that allows our diverse community to live and thrive here at Pike Place Market.
Rachel gratefully collected more than $18,000 in coins and dollars in 2013.
She was modeled after an old, friendly sow that lived near the artist's home on Whidbey Island!
Her cousin, Billie the Piggy Bank, arrived in the Market in 2011.

Directions to the NEXT STOP
When standing in front of Rachel, facing the flying fish at Pike Place Fish Market, turn to your right and follow the brass hoof prints inlaid in the sidewalk for a few feet until you're just past the post. Stop, turn to your left, and look up to see "Song of the Earth, 1998."
